Alyssa DeCaro is a group facilitator, yoga teacher, dancer, and musician with 20+ years of experience. She has taught and performed at venues ranging from Esalen Institute to Burning Man to Genentech to the TED Conference. Alyssa is the creative director of AshoFem, an all-female percussion group in the San Francisco Bay Area that supports empowerment through embodied rhythm.
In 2006, Alyssa founded BODY OF SOUND and is dedicated to helping others tune in to the body as their “essential instrument” through movement, breath, rhythm, and ensemble connection. Her work integrates the audience/performer and student/teacher relationships to create an interactive, rhythmic, ensemble experience. Alyssa believes these to be the most effective tools to break down barriers and establish connection.
Whether on stage or leading groups, Alyssa has a natural ability to shape the collective field, transforming an ordinary room into an inspiring space where practice and play intertwine.
