Joannie LaBelle
Known for her sensibility and contagious groove, Joannie Labelle can charm an audience as soon as she sings or strikes the drums.
She studied percussion with various masters such as Paul Picard, Giovanni Hidalgo and Harouna Dembélé. Joannie also studied in Havana, Cuba, with masters Raul Lali Brito Gonzalez (Clave y Guaguanco), Alberto Villareal (Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba) and Roland Salgado Palacio (Afro Cuban All Stars). She has been active on local and international scenes such as Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Hamburg, Bari, Doha and Kolkata, to name just a few, and has been adding her touch to various renowned artists such as Lara Fabian, Marie-Josée Lord and Les Trois Accords.
Joannie has a very unique talent, mastering different percussions from diverse cultures and being at ease in every musical context, from children shows to classical concerts. She galvanizes DJ sets, appears on TV, offers masterclasses, composes for dance performances, and is now producing a video serie featuring worldwide percussionists. In addition, Joannie performs as a solo artist under the stage name Bea Box.
